Maxwell (fka Sammy) was surrendered to BARC after he was found in a River Oaks apartment complex after possibly being hit by a car. He arrived at the shelter with a leg injury and several large gashes on his body, in addition to being high heartworm positive.
Thankfully many of the residents in the apartment complex were invested in a positive outcome for Maxwell, and together they raised funds and found a foster family for the sweet little pup (he’s only 28 lbs!).
We were then contacted for help in ensuring that Maxwell left the shelter with a rescue tag, and since then he’s joined the Houston PetSet family as part of our growing group of saved stray souls.
Maxwell visited our friends at Echo Lane Animal Clinic on Friday and his leg is looking much better, he received some staples to better heal his wounds on his face, and we confirmed his high heartworm positive status, which he will soon receive treatment for.
