Two weeks ago we received an email about the dog pictured above, Leyla. She had been roaming a neighborhood for a few weeks when a Good Samaritan started leaving her food and water, and a bed and blanket to keep her warm.
Although timid at first, Leyla finally warmed up to her Good Samaritan and was ready to be rescued. Described as calm, housetrained, and sweet, today the little dog boarded our big red bus to find her forever home with a Houston PetSet rescue partner in Minnesota.
Unfortunately, Leyla‘s story is not unique. Every day dogs and cats are dumped by the wayside; domesticated animals left to fend for themselves on the unforgiving streets of Houston. This girl was lucky that someone saw her and paid her the attention she deserved, and we were happy to give her the ultimate “freedom ride” to the Midwest.
Thank you to Leyla‘s Good Samaritan and foster for keeping her safe, and thank you all for your continued support of our lifesaving efforts #ForTheAnimals.
